Out & About

As you may already figure, there is quite a bit to do around Orlando.
And we have really enjoyed getting familiar with this city, as you can probably tell from the pictures above.
I can't wait to see more of this beautiful state and I look forward to sharing it with you!

Ahhhh... It's Friday, yet again! Enjoy your weekend :)

Made with love

I've never made a Halloween costume before, but with my daughter being a little older this year (last year she actually fell asleep in her stroller for awhile while we went door-to-door with family), I decided I was going to find a way how.
While out shopping I came across a (free!) No-Sew-How-To packet that had a picture of a girl in a ladybug costume on the front, and the simplicity of it is what caught my eye.
And the fact that it was no-sew.
Because I am THE definition of what a novice sewer is.
So how could I fail at that!
I used only the supplies in the first picture (with exception of the needle and thread, of course): 1 red pillowcase, black ribbon, hot glue, black felt, and scissors. And at the last minute I added elastic around the bottom to give it a gathered but stretchy fit.
I spent a total of about 2 hours (and about $2), and I have to say, I'm pretty impressed with how this little ladybug costume turned out, complete with clip on antennaes (shown clipped on the shoulders) that I'll clip right on to her pigtails!
It was all super easy and I'm already looking forward to making next year's costume!

We're excited and can't wait to take her out around the neighborhood this weekend, and trust me, there will be plenty of pics for posting afterward)
:)

What are your plans for Halloween?!?

Perceptions

We all have them, and they're all different...
Perceptions!
Every person has a different point of view on every thing.
Mine, however, are a bit more of the creative kind.
These have been some I've enjoyed from the last year...

Standing at the top- Walking up and down these stairs everyday gives me a pretty good workout.
Sugar high- The best way to enjoy a cupcake? Just dig right in :)
A lovely, winding road- The fresh pavement made a beautiful contrast to the sunny sky.
30,000 feet above ground- I love passing by beautiful clouds while flying, don't you?
24 wishes- My triple chocolate birthday cake, thanks to 2 special friends.

Mmmm... My tastebuds are in Heaven!

After buying far too many bananas for a family of 3 and eating as many as we could take after a week, there were 3 left that, of course, stayed right where they were.
To sit.
And ripen.
Really, really, well.
Now, while EXTRA ripe bananas may look gross to some and provoke a hasty toss in to the trash bin, I see them as the perfect opportunity... To make banana bread!
And why not banana *nut bread, you ask?
Because here in Florida... we have ants. Everyone has ants.
Ghost Ants to be specific.
And what will Ghost Ants turn to when you've eliminated every other source of food while you're treating them?
You guessed it. Walnuts.
The very walnuts that I needed to make banana nut bread --at 10:30pm-- when the grocery store was closed.
Sigh.
But I digress...
Now, where was I??
Ahh yes. Extra ripe bananas...
If your mouth isn't watering yet, just imagine how good the house smelled after taking these pictures...
Okay... now you can wipe up that puddle of drool and go make your own by following this simple recipe from Diana's Kitchen!
Enjoy :)

There's a first for everything

I find myself going through old photos often, and the ones that always catch my eye are the 'firsts' for our little girl. They are so special to me because watching her grow and learn so much every day and getting to see her experience new things is truly a blessing! It's a love I never imagined I could feel. Not to mention that the first of anything is exactly that- THE first. The FIRST. To me, those moments are pretty special. Especially because she's my FIRST baby :)
Now, I know that there are MANY firsts for a baby, so rather than post *every*single*one* (I know, I know, you want to see them all, but trust me, you'd be here a while) I decided to share just a few.
~ Her FIRST day of life
~ Her FIRST Christmas
~ Her FIRST time at the beach
~ Her FIRST airplane ride
~ And of course, her FIRST birthday!

Ahhhhh, it's finally the weekend... Hope you enjoy yours!

No need to explain...

I love how a picture or set of pictures can tell an entire story, without having to use any words! Last week we bought our first pumpkin as a family of 3... After cutting open the top I set the pumpkin on the floor and let Lizz have her first pumpkin experience! I thought the photos told such a cute story of a cautious, but ultimately very curious, little girl!

Let's start from the beginning...

Hello Readers!
Welcome to my blogspot! I am new here, but hope to be feeling right at home soon :) Finally getting this blog going is actually an accomplishment for me (even though it's been living in my head for quite some time now). I've always had a passion for writing- my mom can tell you countless stories of this from the time I was 8- but as it usually does, life took it's course and I soon found that my love for writing (and the time it took) were becoming something I long desired to have back...
And so now I do!
For those of you who don't know who I am, let my introduce myself...
My name is Jacqueline!
I am a wife and a stay-at-home-mommy.
I love sleeping in and I love to cook.
I consider my self crafty and a fantastic bargain finder.
But aside from all of that, I LOVE taking pictures!
While chasing a toddler, cooking, cleaning or crafting I can usually be found with a camera in hand snap, snap, snapping away...
At what, you might ask?
Well, that's another reason I started this blog- to share with you my life in photos...
... And hopefully you find something here to enjoy :)
(By the way, the picture above was taken in the fall of '09. Don't we make a cute little family?! Photo credit: Rachael McBee Photography)
